Restitution coefficient of velocity at impact of absolutely elastic particle with shape of an ellipsoid of revolution

Abstract

The article is devoted to an investigation of influence of particle shape on the parameters of its rebound. The comparison of the results of calculations of collision of the flat surface with the particle with shape both a sphere and an ellipsoid of revolution has been done. It is shown that the shape of particles significantly affects the parameters of rebound. It was found that particle can interact with the surface several times during collision, a significant portion of the reflected energy is concentrated in the rotational degree of freedom of the particle.
