Founded in 1956, a peer-reviewed scientific journal “Vestnik of Saint Petersburg University. Mathematics. Mechanics. Astronomy” publishes original contributions in all areas of fundamental and applied mathematics, mathematical problems of mechanics and astronomy and mathematical modelling.
It is the prime outlet for the findings of scientists from St. Petersburg State University and other Russian and world scientific institutions.
Each year more than 70 papers are published in Russian or in English in 4 issues a year. We use a single blind peer review format. Our team of reviewers includes over 110 reviewers, both internal and external. The average period from submission to first decision in 2019 was 60 days, and that from first decision to acceptance was 120 days. The rejection rate for submitted manuscripts in 2017 was 30%. The final decision on the acceptance of an article for publication is made by the Editorial Board.
The Journal is included in the list of the leading refereed academic journals and periodicals recommended by the Higher Attestation Committee at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, assigned for publication of the key results of doctoral dissertations (including the both Russian doctoral degrees: the PhD and the Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences).

The papers on mathematics and mathematical modelling published in Russian are translated and included in the journal Vestnik St. Petersburg University, Mathematics, issued by Pleiades Publishing / Allerton Press / Springer, and indexed in the international science databases Scopus and Emerging Sources Citation Index (Web of Science Core Collection).
