Comparison of numbers of records in the sequences of discrete and continuous random variables

Abstract

В ряде областей человеческой деятельности фиксируются различные рекордные достижения. Часто при этом происходит некоторая дискретизация с различной точностью (до секунды, до метра, до тысячи индивидуумов) получаемых результатов наблюдений. На примере экспоненциальных и геометрических распределений показано, как такого рода переход от непрерывных к дискретным вероятностным распределениям меняет число рекордных значений в соответствующих последовательностях случайных величин.
